From our mill at Shawbost, Harris Tweed Hebrides creates fabric based on a vast range of designs – some very modern and other stretching back into the archives of the Harris Tweed® industry.

We create our unique spectrum of blended yarn colours in our dyehouse. Fibre dyeing scoured wool provides an unrivalled depth of colour, one yarn shade can contain up to 8 different shades of wool.
All dyes are on the approved list of ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) and compliant with UK and EU regulations. The ZDHC’s ‘Roadmap to Zero’ programme was designed to protect the planet by reducing industry's chemical footprint. We do not bleach our wool, we use the fibre in its natural state to create our lightest yarn shades.

Using soft, clean Hebridean water reduces the chemicals required in the production process. We have on-site effluent management to minimise the impact of our operation on local infrastructure.
